Tobacco represents a product which is agricultural and is made from the leaves of plants in the genus Nicotiana. Tobacco is possible to be used as an organic pesticide, be consumed or in the form of nicotine tart rate. The last one is used quite often in some medications.

People consume it more often in the forms of dipping tobacco, chewing, smoking, snuffing or snus. For a long period of time tobacco was used in Americas as an entheogen. Of course there are a lot of tobacco types, but they all are related to the plant genus Nicotiana. the word nicotine came from nicotiana and was called in the honor of Jean Nicot, who was in Portugal a French ambassador. He has sent this plant in1559 as a medicine to the court of Catherine de Medici.

Nicotine has very addictive properties like dependence and tolerance. There are almost 1.1 billion people, who use tobacco in different forms. It well known that tobacco is a real cause of death for the population, because it has addictive, harmful properties. A report made by World Health Organization says tobacco use causes 5.4 million deaths in a year.

The number of smokers has declined in the countries that are already developed but it is still rising up in developing countries. Tobacco is cultivated by using the same technology like to other agricultural products. Tobacco represents an annual crop and is almost all the time harvested by hand or mechanically. After that operation it is stored for curing and there happens slow oxidation of carotenoids. In the end the product gains properties that make the smoke smoother. Tobacco is used in sniffing, smoking, chewing and other activities.
